It is with great sadness that I am writing this. Very soon in the near future, within a week or two at the most, my husband and I are going to have to put Sadie down due to the LP. She's at the stage where she can't enjoy any activities, she can't go outside in the heat, nor walk, nor go swimming. Whenever somebody comes home she can't breathe, any type of excitement she has difficulty breathing, extreme difficulty. We know the time is coming very soon. Our vet is going to come to our house to euthanize her. My question is and I need advice with this, is Cooper. I was thinking of having my daughter take Cooper for a walk and when the vet is done with the procedure to bring Cooper home so that he could say goodbye to Sadie.
My question is what should we do about Cooper?
Thank you in advance :-(

I'm so sorry, Joan.
I think what you indicated is what I would do...walk Cooper and then let him say goodbye. I definitely wouldn't have him there for the procedure and wouldn't want him seeing the vet...and perhaps associate the vet with death in the future.

So very sorry the time has come. It's so sad when illness takes over their body and there's nothing we can do. I agree with how to handle Cooper.
My hugs and support prayers are with you.

I'm sorry this time has come for you and Sadie.
I think your idea is good. Mine have gone to the Vet, then I brought them home for a viewing. Just like many human visitations. I read an article about children, should they go to Grandpa's funeral? It said if they want to, fine, and sometimes young children who don't fail to understand where Grandpa went and why he doesn't visit anymore. I've witnessed similar behaviour in my pets who could not view another pet's body, they look for them. The saddest one I know is the little dog who could not see her human Mum's body and waited in the window for her for two months after the lady's death.

I don't have any advice, just wanted to send good thoughts. This must be such a tough time for you.

My heart is breaking for you and Sadie. The morning Bruce passed away, I had Sophie come over and lay down with us as I stroked him. I believe she understood what happened and was ok after I took Bruce away. My only advice is that you know your dogs, and you should do what you think is right. I'll keep you in my thought and prayers.
