Chloe and I competed at the regional NOC (National Obedience Competition) Qualifier this weekend. I was mainly going for the experience and just to see where we stacked up in the overall picture, plus hoping for some more UDX legs and OM points. Because this is one of the few qualifiers for the National, almost all of the top teams in the region were there including previous National winners, the girl who won at Westminster, etc.
So as expected we didn’t place at all ... all 6 classes (Open and Utility 3 days) required a score of 199+ to place (YIKES). It was a big, chaotic trial with lots of stressed people and some amazing competitors. The first day, I think the atmosphere got to Chloe and she NQ’d both classes ... in Utility she anticipated being sent for the articles and I messed up the drop on recall in Open. After that though, she did great. Yesterday she earned UDX leg #6 with a 196.5 in Utility, and a 196 in Open. Today, after 3 exhausting days of showing - we were there from 8AM to 7 PM yesterday) she rocked. Earned UDX leg #7 with a 198.5 in Open and a career high 197.5 in Utility. I couldn’t have been happier with her. Those scores also allowed her to complete her Obedience Master (OM) title. In terms of how we stack up, we are not among the elite, but we are just one notch down ... for now
For those who aren’t familiar with those titles, a UDX requires the dog to qualify in both Open B and Utility B on the same day, 10 times. The OM requires dogs to earn a total of 200 points (60 from Utility, 60 from Open and the rest from either). Points are earned with scores over 190 - the higher the score, the more it is worth.
For both titles, you can get them multiple times, so 20 UDX legs would give you a UDX2, etc.

Hookey Smokey, that's a lot of grueling work. Good high numbers on the points. Chloe's and your work is something to be proud of.
Just wait for the next event-------200 pointers on all. I have never seen were it took 199+ points just to place. Wowisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
