    Mocha's deer friend

Tonight we got home and let Mocha out. There was a deer standing way down in the field. It was a young 4 point buck with it's antlers in velvet. He just started ambling up toward us and Mocha. He ran down to meet the interloper. They just stood 10 feet apart looking at each other. Finally the deer started running toward us! With Mocha in hot pursuit. The deer was just bouncing along and Mocha was low running! It was funny to watch!

There was a video making the rounds a while back that showed a deer and a black lab frolicking around....chasing each other, etc.

So nice that Mocha has made a new friend.

I truly think the deer was just wanting to play! Mocha barked a few times but never growled. But when the deer bounced off, the chase was on and I think that is Mocha's favorite part!

I see deer playing with each other like that in the park sometimes...usually younger ones, bouncing around.

That deer recognized a nice playmate in Mocha.

That's amazing. I would have thought the deer would have bolted as soon as Mocha headed his way. I guess somehow he knew Mocha was not a threat!!! Very cool!!!!!

What a lucky privilege for you to observe that. Something that rarely happens, wonderful.

Very cool photos. Looks like Mocha was turning on the afterburners in pursuit.
