So the walk'n poop is a thing now.

Ram has always been a one stop plopper, but recently he’s started to occasionally do the walk’n poop. He’ll squat and poop then take a few steps, squat and poop, take a few steps.....usually 3-4 times. I suppose it’s not unlike Hansel and Gretel but only with a trail of turds.

So I’m wondering if this is a "movement" founded by and limited to seniors or is it open to all ages?

I've definitely known some dogs who always did this, but Kimber just recently started it and I think it's directly tied to her backend weakness. I think she just can't hold the squat as long as she used to.

Mocha always does the poop shuffle before he goes and occasionally he will do the poop walk during. He's 3.

I didn't think of not being able to hold the squat.

Bubba has always done this, but he holds a consistent squat while walking. It is insanely annoying.

Chase does this sometimes, mostly in about the last year but he's nearing 10 years of age. He is capable of holding his squat but sometimes it's a shuffling squat. The walking poop is annoying since Lark has been known to sample his offerings. In the back yard I have to pick up the main deposit and look around carefully to make certain that I've left no prizes behind for Larky to find. No kisses for you, Little Turd-Breath!

Makes you proud if other people get to see that, I'll bet.

I've known dogs who've done this even from a young age. If older, I suspect aging hips/spine.

There've been times when Sunnie will start a squat and get distracted by a scent...and walk along, not in squat, to another (close) spot.

Maverick does this too. He absolutely HATES poop tho so I wonder if he just doesn't like the smell of his own brand.

Haha yep! Also we live in the city, so while the first pile lands in the grass/dirt, the rest usually spread far across the sidewalk

Tux has been a walking pooper his whole life. But he'll maintain the squat position the whole time while he's walking and leaving a trail. Cabo is more of a squat and poop, walk a couple steps, and repeat. He is eight but he started doing that for some reason about five or so years ago.
