I have a rooster named Peaches

Sigh. I posted last week about naming my chicks. All of them have gender neutral names, except possibly Peaches. I even joked with my husband that of course the one I named Peaches would probably end up a roo.

Peaches and Pickles are my two Rhode Island Reds and have been developing a little differently. Peaches has a very big and assertive personality. 'She' is also the most affectionate with me. Noticing the physical differences that developed this week, I posted to a chicken board (kind of like the lab board...) and I have confirmation that Peaches is a boy. People suggested switching the names, but having a rooster named Peaches kind of makes me laugh.

Luckily I live in the country and roosters aren't a problem. Everyone has one so Peaches will fit right in. Now I have to hope that the other 7 are all girls.

This is Pickles, my girl Rhode Island Red. She's rocking that teenage awkward dinosaur look.

    And my Roo, Peaches.

Hey...roosters have testicles. You can say it's a suitable nickname.

Sundance - you're too quick with the wit.

Cute little critter. Kind of miss having them around.
