Rocky went in last week for some repeat bloodwork (3 weeks after the last results showing serious kidney issues).
Well, results are back in the "normal" range (both blood cell counts and kidney values). so good news. He wants Rocky to continue to eat a prescription diet mostly because he said commercial diets it's hard to get the true phosphorous values per feeding. I have some bags of the kidney food and the powder to make my own so I have time to decide.
Next bloodwork to be done in three months (thankfully a bit of a break!)
Now we work on finding proper pain management. We start cartophen injections tomorrow (once a week for four weeks, then we'll see if it works and it's once a month or so based on need). Funny enough it's cheaper than nsaids so wishing we had started with that :P I will also ask about adaquan I think it is (NOT an nsaids pain killer) but unfortunately we need to start with one at a time to know what works (or what doesn't).
Given his kidneys are not THAT awful we may look into turmeric paste again.

Good. Hope the Cartrophen works. CV was cheaper than Adequan for me, on Oban. The Adequan takes more shots per week even after the initial loading period but maybe it doesn't for every ailment. Now he's not on either but TCM and cold laser is not cheap either.

I'm glad to see Rocky's bloodwork is back in the normal range. I know the cost of the Rx food is terrible. My daughter's dog has had to eat Rx food nearly her whole life. With all the health issues she's had, yes their adopted shelter pup, now 9 years old, has had more money spent on her in her lifetime than probably both my dogs combined so far. Not a strong case for hybrid vigor.
I hope you find some effective and safe pain management for the distinguished gentleman!
Super good news on the retest! Hope you can find an effective pain reliever for your loving boy.
Great update! Glad to hear things are more normal for Rocky. Sending more mojo.
