    NLR little Ginger

Ginger has been having sinus infections off and on for a couple of months now, which had sent us to her regular vet for treatment with antibiotics. When the third round of stronger meds didn't work they sent us on to a specialist. They started treating for dry eye since every thing is connected with the eye and nose but her nose never really got any better.

Last night Ginger had another episode of her being all stuffy and not breathing well, so we went to our evet. The er doctor was concerned with her breathing, temp 104, and the nasal discharge which had a little blood so he said not to wait for our follow up appointment with her eye specialist later this month to get her back to the medvet today and have her nose scoped. We just got back around 10pm this evening with a little test tube filled with about a 3" blade of grass they pulled out of her nose! it was up her nose cavity and wrapped down behind the soft palette. Her doctor said he didn't know if she had inhaled it up her nose and down the back of her throat or inhaled it into her mouth and up into the nasal cavity. Either way it is out and my little girl is breathing so much better. We are keeping our fingers crossed that her little nose will heal now and the problem with her sinus infections has been solved.

Oh, gosh...you just never know what's going to happen with these guys, do you? I'm glad it turned out to be something that they caught...and could treat. Good thoughts for an uneventful full recovery.

Oh my. I wonder how a blade of grass didn't just eventually dissolve away and disappear? Maybe it got encapsulated?

We were wondering too why it just didn't dissolve away but I guess because it was wrapped in both places she kept moving it back and forth with sneezing and coughing. Her internal medicine doctor at med vet said he just barely seen the end of the blade and was able to pull a little at a time to get it to come out.

I belong to a boston board and apparently this is a regular occurrence with bostons LOL I guess because of their short faces and everything so close and tight if they take something like a blade of grass in through the nose it is right there with the throat, so in Ginger's case it made like a c clap.

We did swing into our evet clinic last night on our way home, to thank him in person and show him the blade of grass. Her doctor was really very concerned and pushed that we get her in and get her nose scoped yesterday, which we did. Her doctors at Medvet were amazing too they listened to us and our concerns and went ahead with the procedure finding Ginger's secret stash of grass. LOL

It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

So glad for Ginger! Such a tiny thing caused so much grief to her.

Play on sweet Ginger. Life is good again.
