    Typing Tests

So I've posted about finally getting an op to take a typing test for this state job I am interested in. I go next week. I have to score 40 wpm. I have been taking various tests online and find that if I take my time and go carefully I can score 40 and above. However, when nervous I can be borderline. Any ideas how to pick up the pace, accuracy and has anyone ever taken one for a job?? There are various types and some are easier than others, of course I have no idea what type I will get.

Not a good typist here-use the backspace button ALOT. You have to relax and be yourself.

Sending good luck MOJO for your test.

WOW, have not heard of typing tests in ages. When I went to school we were tested on manual machines. Yes, it was that long ago.

Practice, practice, practice is all I can suggest. We had to do 60 wpm just to pass. My whole career has involved a lot of key boarding so I've gotten my speed up quite a bit.

Both my kids did Mavis Beacon when they were maybe middle school age. Their dad said he'd pay them some amount, maybe $100, if they could get up to 60 wpm. Don't you know they both got their prize and can still type incredibly fast. The older one said friends at college were amazed at her typing speed. Yay, Mavis Beacon!

The was a cross stitch sampler in my great Aunt's house that said " The hurrier I go the behind I get". True for typing, too. Relax. Practice at finding your groove. I would think accuracy would be better than speed. 1 error at 40 wpm is better than 10 at 60.
