The barriers are not crash safe at all. In fact they aren't even lab safe (tried one once, long long ago). Now that air bags are everywhere, crates are especially important. I like the airline approved ones the best personally.
Anyone use one of these? I was thinking of getting one so when I take Brian to the vet alone I can drive without him trying to get on my lap lol. I have a Chevy Colorado pick up. The ones I'm seeing are for cars and SUVs. What kind do you all have if you have one at all? Or do you use a carrier? Thanks

The OH made one for me, out of pvc pipe and netting. All it does is keep Oban from putting his muddy feet on my console or getting onto the front seat. In my 2014 Cherokee the load floor is level with the top of the console. His crate doesn't fit in.

We had one for our Jeep Cherokee (1994) but as Anne says, it is more about keeping them out of the way than keeping them safe. Mine almost always travel in crates now, although we use heavy duty wire ones that are wedged in so tight they can’t move at all.

Did u actually try to train the dog. Gigi will sit on the left side in the back seat of the cars. She will put her head on the center console.
She used to jump but after being stern and repeating she got it. She nearly caused an accident after jumping on my lap while driving nearly sending us to the ditch.after that we got very stern and reinforced no front seat.

This is what I use for Leo in my F 150 Scout's Convertible Seat Saver - Duluth Trading
Works pretty good to protect my seat, plus keeps him in the back seat. He just sits and watches the world go by out the side windows.
Actually no. Not yet.
Thank you all for the responses
I'll have to look into that tims229!
He isn't "bad" on rides just likes to get close. I'm sure he will outgrow it as he rides more often, but at the moment he is kind of scared of the truck. He is ok at first I give him his kong ball with peanut butter in it and it keeps him busy. It's when he get bored of that he decides he wants to look around I guess lolol. But I have back up to help me with him until I get something figured out or he gets calmer, my niece loves him and said she will ride in the back seat with him if I take him anywhere
Again thank you all!
Keep working on it. We went on a 2500mile road trip with our 2 kids. She picked up a lot of good habits and also we were able to work on it all through the trip.a lot of pratice.
Everyday I take her in the car and she has her head out as we drop my daughter at school. This is full of🤗 cars ,kids and people .
