Bed Peeing - What's up with that?

Hey, everyone. Long time, no post. I've recently run into a problem with my dog, Winston. He's 7 now, and is in good health. However, in the last 3 weeks he has peed on the bed twice. To be specific, my bed once, and the bed of my SO once. I'm not talking small amount. I'm talking huge puddles. In both instances he had been taken out to potty recently. I have a waterproof mattress cover, so my mattress was fine, but it ruined my SO's mattress. So I'm naturally embarrassed and frustrated. We have recently been spending most of our time at my SO's apartment, and there is another dog there. This has been an adjustment to my dog, who has lived with me in the same house all of his life.

Could this issue be behavioral? Territorial? Is there a potential health issue? How should I go about eliminating possibilities? There have been no changes to his diet or water intake. But I can't keep having this happen.

I'd check with the vet first, to rule out health issues. Could be UTI.

I'd ask the vet to check specifically for protein in his urine, too....that can cause nocturnal/lying down incontinence.

Very frustrating! Is this happening when he's asleep overnight or has he been sneaking into the bedroom to pee on the bed at some other time? If it's overnight, were you sleeping next to him? I'm just wondering if the warm, wet bed woke you up or, if you just found it wet when you came to bed. Could he have had a seizure (if you were next to him, you'd have probably noticed the movement)? Does the other dog normally sleep on your SO's bed? You'll want to make sure he doesn't have a UTI or some other physical reason for incontinence. If it's physical, behavioral interventions aren't likely to help.

Totally agree with a vet check as the starting point. Could be a UTI or bladder stones/crystals.
