    Pet Insurance Recommendations?

Hi Everyone. We pick up our new puppy this Friday and just scheduled his Vet Appointment for that afternoon. When I was scheduling the meeting I asked if they had a specific Pet Insurance company they recommended and they suggested Trupanion. I was looking at others and had narrowed it down to HealthyPaws. My major criteria was no maximums.

Both companies seem very similar but one of them is about 20% higher.

Does anyone here have any recommendations on pet insurance companies? Any experience that might tilt us one way or the other?

    Appreciate all feedback!!

I have Healthy Paws for my two girls. I have been very pleased. I got it immediately so there are no pre-existing conditions. They do not pay for regular preventive care, only illness and injury and tests, cultures and medications. I have always received comfirmation of my claim along with a "statement of benefits" within 24 hours of filing the claim on line with a check received 2-3 days later.
I have $100.00 per year deductible with 90% reimbursement for each incident.
    I hope this helps.

We went with Trupanion. I liked the fact that you can crank up the deductable to whatever your pain level is, to reduce the cost of your monthly policy. Fortunately, we haven't had to use it.

I went with Trupanion and I use it all the time. When I was researching insurance, right after Roxy was born, I found that Trupanion covered more than the others. I have called Trupanion's customer service on a few occasions and the people were always friendly and helpful too.

I love Trupanion! Never a problem and they've paid about $8,000 in claims over the past six years.

We have Pet Plan and they've been awesome! We pay the first 100 dollars and then I believe we have 90% coverage. They're customer service is really nice too. We have the Gold plan so a lot of other things are included as well.

Thanks again to OP for starting this thread. I did my research on all plans mentioned (thank you for sharing) and we have decided to go with Trupanion. Truly like the fact that this plan covers therapeutic pet foods and dietary supplements. Don't think will have issues with bellies, but you never know. Also the fact that actual Vet bills will be paid and not off some pre-scheduled cost made up by the insurance company. But most important, you can pick the Vet and hospital.

Will be a great investment for my pup. Hoping to never have to use it but it will always be there.

We have VPI. We started with them mainly because DH gets a discount with them through his work. I've been happy with them so far.
