just got this list from a friend of mine...
 sad...but if you're looking for deals, this maybe the time. Stores that informed the Securities & Exchange Commission ofclosing plans between October 2008 and January 2009. Circuit City stores... most recent Chapter 11 (? how many) Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide are to be shuttered Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug ,and Catherine's to close 150 store nationwide Eddie Bauer to close stores 27 stores and more after January Cache will close all stores Talbots closing down all stores J. Jill closing all stores GAP closi ng 85 stores Footlocker closing 140 stores more to close after January Wickes Furniture closing down Levitz closing down remaining stores Bombay closing remaining stores Zales closing down 82 stores and 105 after January. Whitehall closing all stores Piercing Pagoda closing all stores Disney closing 98 stores and will close more after January. Home Depot closing 15 stores 1 in NJ ( New Brunswick ) Macys to close 9 stores after January Linens and Things closing all stores Movie Galley Closing all stores Pacific Sunware closing stores Pep Boys Closing 33 stores & nbsp;Sprint/ Nextel closing 133 stores JC Penney closing a number of stores after January Ethan Allen closing down 12 stores. On Howard Stern this morning Robin was reminding people that if you have gift cards or get gift cards for Christmas you might want to use them because they become useless after the stores close their doors for good.

Oh my god that is a ton of stores. Thank god Dillards is only closing some and not going out of business as a whole, I love that place.
I just called Mom and told her about Talbots, she is so upset. Between the store and online she is buying something from there once a week, it's her favorite store. And wow I cannot believe Lowes will be closing some stores! I guess Home Depot has been giving them a run for their money?

Yes I hate to see all that.
The Home Depot here closed last summer. I think a bunch of their merchandise went out the door at 10 % off, more than I can buy it a Lowes now. Make sure what you buy is really something you will use and enough cheaper to justify stocking up. I did do well on some screws and electrical stuff at Home Depot. I won't miss them much. I think Lowes and local hardware had as good or better stuff for less and abetter selection. |

thanks for cking on Snopes for me...i didn't even think to verify the info before posting... but i knew some on the list already but not Talbots & Ann Taylor & Dillards.
i need new winter clothes.
