Sweet ending for a rescue dog
I know this isn't the proper place but as an animal rescuer we need this sort of thing when life beats us down.
This is so heart warming: Thought you might enjoy this video. The first annual (hopefully) Extreme Mutt Makeover was held this summer in Ft. Worth Texas in conjunction with the Extreme Mustang Makeover. (www.extrememustangmakeover.com) . Ten dogs from the local Humane Society were selected to be matched with ten trainers. They were given 7 weeks to train their dogs to compete against each other in basic obedience and any type of ‘free form’ things they could teach. The dog in this video is a 2 ½ year old female black lab that was an owner surrender when the original owners had a new baby. It took her 4 weeks before she trusted the trainer enough to stay in the same room with her without being on a leash. However, you can see the relationship that was forged with positive reinforcement and taking the time to build some trust. This video is of their finals performance after being high scorer in two out of three of the preliminary events. You can’t see what they do with the wooden box, but Tess jumps on it with all four feet and reaches up and gives the trainer a kiss. They went on to win the event!
