    Grounds for divorce?

I just watched Top Chef. The four remaining chefs were tasked with instructing a person they couldn't see with cooking the same dish that they were cooking. Three of the chefs were paired with their spouses. One was paired with her sister.

One guy recognized his wife's voice. One. The other two had no idea whatsoever. The fourth didn't recognize her own sister.

I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure that's grounds for divorce. That just seems so bizarre to me.

Ha ha! Yeah, but I suspect my own spousal unit thinks I'd be more patient with a stranger than I would be if I knew it was him, which may or may not be accurate. We'd start out well because I'd have no expectations that my unseen partner had any skills whatsoever. I'd probably give better directions than if I knew it was him and he asked me exactly how long to cook something on each side so he could set the timer on his watch. That would be a dead giveaway right there.

I taught my wife, who was just my girlfriend at the time how to drive a car with a stick shift. Let's just say it wasn't pretty, but we did end up getting married. About 10 years ago, she asks me if I'll teach her how to ride a motorcycle. I've been riding since I was 12 years old, was a MSF Certified Rider Coach for almost 10 years, and also taught high performance riding on various race tracks up and down the east coast. I had a flash back to the stick shift event, and my response was a definite "Oh hell no, you want to learn to ride, go take the course when someone else is teaching!!!!" She did take it and barely passed, I think my fellow rider coaches went a bit easy on her. She did end up getting her license but never had the interest in riding again.

DH tried to teach me to drive stick. Tried. It ended with us on a hilly back road, and me threatening- no, promising- to get out and walk home if he didn't stop talking right now.

I was surprised too. It did seem like the one girl was purposely not talking much. But yeah, surprising that not more of the contestants recognized the voices.

Damn Barry. Similar story. Taught my gf now wife how to drive a stick shift. Then one morning she wanted a motorcycle. As a responsible rider ,brought her a virago 535 and signed up msf course. One day driving home I see a women riding a virago on the side walk. Best she pulls into my mother in law house and rear ends her car. She did ride for a few years everyday to work before she got pregnant with out first child.
Now she brought a camper, I told her in India only poor people camp. Well now I camp alot and we have fun....

I drove a boyfriend's stick shift but I never could master the OH's truck. Then he came home with news that a gal in his office had asked him to teach her how to drive her new stick shift. He did. I guess the difference is either it wasn't his spouse or it wasn't his vehicle, and probably a bit of both.

And the gal's at my work were killing themselves laughing when he called me repeatedly to help him make the chicken, cheese, broccoli recipe on the Bisquik box.

DH is the cook in this house - of that I am very thankful. When I try to cook he's constantly coming in looking, making subtle "suggestions". Oh heck no! It's all yours bud! Actually he's a very good cook. There are certain meals I make that he'll stay out of the kitchen, turkey dinner, chicken and noodles. I do all the clean up and that an be a real chore but I'm thankful I do it after a delicious meal.

Tried to teach DD to drive; I was so nervous it made her nervous. Finally hired a teacher and she did very well.

my then-husband was trying to "refresh my memory" on how to land a tail-dragger (airplane with a tail wheel instead of a nose-wheel tricycle plane like a little Cessna). I had maybe 35 hours on them, but it had been probably 8 years or so since i had been flying one regularly, and with just a few hours on a little single-seat tail-dragger in the last few years i was a bit nervous - never mind it was his deceased father's plane that we had just finally gotten it rebuilt and flying. I finally told him on the next landing that he was getting out and i would just figure it out myself. It didn't help that he was a big guy and this was a very little airplane. He was known as a very good instructor that could teach pretty much anyone how to fly. It went much better without him sitting there....
