Just looking at the forecast for next week and we will hardly get below freezing for most of the week, even during the night. I wonder if this weird winter will affect the maple syrup crop. I was thinking this year we need to get a gallon, or two.
Other than some cold days and then some random snow that's gone by the afternoon, I'm going to say NO.

I looked at next week's forecast. I'll be in Phoenix, Arizona for part of next week- and it will be warmer in VA for two of those days!

It's 72 degrees in Nebraska today. Happy February, y'all.
The record high for February at our small town (records only from 1971-2000) is 15.0C (59F). It's 17C now.

Last summer, I think we had over 90 days that were 90+ degrees. And we were in the 90's well into October. I was at a car show in late September and I thought we were all going to melt. It was over 100 on the track. Even the natives thought it was a brutal summer and I am guessing we are in for more of the same.

There were three mud sliders (turtles) sunning themselves on a branch sticking out of the water at the lake we just took the dogs to. Turtles. February 20.
I've been seeing Red-Winged Blackbirds at the lake I walk around at daybreak. They're definitely early, too...and they're really a reliable indicator (better than the groundhog, that's for sure). We have robins out all winter so their appearance means nothing anymore. I saw my first local groundhog and a chipmunk last week. These critters know what's going on...
I used snowshoes when I took Oban out this morning. I'm going to cross country ski this afternoon. It may be my last chance for a while as it's supposed to rain tomorrow. As it is, it'll be a waxless ski day.
