Snow Moving Vent- Quit Saying Yes

Me? Complaining about snow? We have had a lot of snow this winter. There would be more on the ground if not for recurring, heavy duty thaws. It's the people who keep asking OH to help move snow that my vent is about. I guess they don't all know how many of them ask him for help. But he says yes to all of them.

He does ours, not just the driveway but pee paths and up on the roof of the house. He does any neighbours who need help or are not home yet. He does a friend's who winters four months in Florida and a friend who is pregnant, single (and 54 years old!) And now long time friends who have just had a whirlwind time with medical issues resulting in a double bypass for him ( a complete and utter shock since he's very fit and eats right) have asked for help. OH says he will go when he can but I will go today. At least, for the first time yesterday, I heard the OH say he's going to tell the Florida friend he can't do it next year. The Florida friend and the pregnant lady in particular can easily afford to hire some young guy to clear their driveways.

Oh gosh, I had an uncle who used to mow every lawn up and down the street but I know he'd have never suggested my aunt go help out.

We've been fortunate in the snow department this year, depending upon how much snow you like. So far we're on track to break a record for the least amount of snow for this winter- not even an inch. Some of our heaviest snows come at the end of February or beginning of March so we're not out of the woods yet.

Wow that is a lot of snow removal!!! Sounds like he has a heart of gold.... My DH was doing our neighbors yard, they won't be back till March... they called a few weeks back and said we could let it go. I reminded them that usually March we still have now but they didn't seem to care. Curious what the deal is with prego lady? Is she on bed rest or light duty? I shoveled a ton when I was expecting....it's good exercise, go slow if you have too....I also ran the snowblower too while prego. Hang in there...just a few more months...Let's hope with the thaw starts it doesn't switch back to freezing cause I am so over with chipping ice!

Husband just went out and packed some trails with the snowmobile. We have a plough on the ATV, A snowblower and a tractor with a blower on it but the best thing is the neighbour up the road comes down and blows out everyones' driveways after a heavy snow. A neighbouring famer lends him the equipment and he says it is how he keeps from going shack wacky over the winter.

We have an awesome neighbor who often does ours but this year not much snow. He has in the past, on and off, done other driveways also. DH has helped others when it's really bad.

Your OH is so nice but enough is enough. He does need to say no more often or he will be taken advantage of, if it is not already happening.

It was my choice to go help my friend. After all, she is my friend and she is in the middle of unexpected medical issues with her husband's emergency bypass taking them both by surprise. She and I had the deck nearly done when OH showed up. Don't think he could have used the big scoop there anyway, just as well 'cause it broke yesterday. After 35 years the darn thing broke.

The pregnant lady is 54 years old and just lost the first artificial insemination at full term last summer. OH helps her when he can but it bugs me when she calls and asks him to fix her snowblower, or her lawnmower, or the garage door or the dishwasher. OH is 70 and she can afford to hire snow removing and repair people.

Seems like a nice guy . We have been lucky with snow. Last we got near to 20 inches and the first time I took the snow blower out. This year has been good. We will close to 50 everyday for a few.

Just have to say that is a bit much to ask from the 54 year old pregnant neighbor. There is asking a favor and then there is taking advantage. I understand your frustration.

She's not a neighbour. Neither is the Florida guy. OH has to drive into town to do their driveways. OH has also been up and cleaned off both their rooves.

She has had her problems this winter though. She is in a new house and was complaining to OH that it seems more snow falls in her driveway than anywhere else on her street. She's more than a bit weird and tends to whine and complain about people so OH and I just figured, there she is, brand new place and complaining again. Turns out she was right. The contractor hired by the man next door to her blew his snow into her driveway. Right across the yard into her driveway. That's not right either of course. That has stopped.
