Hum, don't know. Be interesting to find out.
We had a half dead cherry tree cut down last fall. There's a thriving bleeding heart bush near it. The light in the area is great and I want to turn it into a vegetable garden.
The question is do the bleeding heart and/or the roots of the cherry tree cause problems for veg. I know that bleeding hearts are poisonous but do either of these stunt veg growth?

Hope it works most veg have small root systems so I would give it a try.

I don't think either would be a problem. Any member of the Juglan family could cause problems for a vegetable garden.

No it won't hurt your veggies but the Bleeding heart is a shade to part shade plant. So if it's in full sun you might want to move it anyway.

The huge ones, no they are no problem. Actually I had one out back, had being the key word. It was actually overgrown and taken over by the other vegetation. I had wondered why everything was cut so far back so I just let it creep in and then was quickly overtaken by raspberries. Its still alive there I see it poke through every now and then but nothing like it once was.
