    Don't buy chicks for Easter.

Unless you have a long term plan for full grown chickens, just don't do it. Chicks look cute for about a week and kids aren't interested anymore. Then they evolve into this. Then they become chickens. I'm just saying.

My Aunt's nursing home brings in some chicks at Easter. Staff tell me they are from a local farmer and go back to him. I hope that's true.

My Vet just sent out an email with a similar request. Same with the rabbits. Easter bunny is cute for a few days and then it becomes a pet and they live a long time.

So totally agree with you! It's cruel what happens to these poor helpless creatures.

There are lots of people posting videos on social media with various exotic type animals that are really cute and people are begging them not to make them pets. One example is a flying sugar squirrel video that went viral. They are noisy, nocturnal, go to the bathroom a lot and need to be with others. Every time I see a cute animal video I kind of cringe.
    Thanks Everyone!!

We used to get ducks and chicks for Easter. After Easter, they went out to the neighbors Grandfathers farm.

I agree. I'll get exotic chickens that were left behind at the feed store but they're with other chickens. I will never understand the hedgehog phenomenon. What was that about? Saw a woman on a talk show who was trying to re-home hers because it wasn't "cuddly". Well, duh.
