I can't help but think texting is setting them up for hand/wrist disorders, too...along the lines of carpal tunnel.
Just a heads up. My husband was chatting with his physical therapist yesterday while he's recovering from his broken knee cap.
They're seeing kids now 8-10 years old and a lot of them. The kids are spending so much time on smart phones and similar devices that they can no longer raise their heads normally. They are developing something called Dowager's Syndrome or Dowager's Hump because they don't stand up straight enough. They are simply growing into it and it will affect them for the rest of their lives.
Something to think about.

That's the ones who survive walking in front of a car. My sister's brakes work just fine, thankfully. Or as in one youtube I saw, right into the side of a moving car. There's a FB thing with an interview with "somebody" who goes into some other affects, I think even neurological, certainly social.

They are living in a fantasy world, have no idea what reality is like. Such a shame, all they miss.

Eek! That's scary. My kid is only 3 but I just refuse to get him addicted to touch devices. He'll learn them eventually. Right now he plays one puzzle game a few times a week on the Kindle.
