I thought I may have the job...

I am so confused. I sent my resume for a potential job interview, finally got the interview and it ended with "I think we should hear back from HR by Friday as far as salary, etc...." So I sent a thank you email to the manager on Friday. I sent a follow up Wednesday. I have heard nothing. I have never been so confused. This is a dream job in a way and so to let it go easily is not a wise decision however I cannot make a pest of myself. All of my correspondence had been with the manager who sometimes takes a while to get back to me. When I arrived for the interview she set me up with her daughter & another senior employee because she was leaving to visit her new grand baby in the hospital. The daughter and other employee were super helpful, we interviewed for about 35 minutes and she said she expected I would hear I just really thought that if they were taking someone else over me ( and there are a few openings) that she would have at least emailed me to say that so that I would stop bugging her. Nothing. WTH???
A co worker of mine said I should call. Ive alwready emailed 2 times, I would normally let it go but I was basically told I had the job...ugh.

It's too early to call. It's only been 2 days since your last follow up. Leave them alone until next week. My friend just went through a similar experience. It took them 1.5 weeks to finally make am offer. Be patient.

Leave it (:-)). Sometimes there are processes behind the scenes, the person 'above' needs to sign off and isn't there, a whole host of things. Give it a full week from Monday the 17th.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

So if I give it a full week from the 17th, what after-- do I then call? So frustrating.

Blackboy98-thank you, I needed that reminder.

Be patient. I just hired 4 people and it took 3 weeks to get all the paperwork back from HR! I could time them with a sun dial!

When I was hired for my most recent job I got the offer immediately, but the paperwork to make it official took almost a month. They had to have either letters of recommendation from supervisors, which was not allowed, or two prior year reviews. I think part of it depends on the new perspective employer, but some of it also depends on current employer. Definitely don't hound them on it. They could get irritated and forget the whole thing.

Be patient. I wish companies would follow up but things come up, take longer than planned, etc. Its still in a reasonable time frame for them to get back to you and like Meeps83 said, bugging them may turn them off.

It's s fine line between following up and bugging them. Personally whenever I'm told a date I should hear back (regardless of job interview or something else), I wait a day or two before following up and tell them they said I should hear by this dare so I'm just following up for a status. That way they should see you are good at following up vs bugging them.

This is truly unbelievable to me. Nothing still. I left a voicemail yesterday. I figured 3 weeks and 2 days since the interview was plenty of time for them to have just replied to an email to say yes or no. Remember: the 2 I met with basically said I had the job and should hear from he manager by Friday. That Friday was 2 weeks ago. I just feel like if they really wanted me, they would have called or emailed me back. I am still just so puzzled. I guess bottom line is they just don't want me. My heart was set on that job.

NO......do not give up!!! You have the job, it's the HR people sitting on their can that is holding things up-paper work, have to go and get donuts, need more coffee, need a nap...that sort of thing.

I have NO experience in being hired for a job as I have always worked for myself. But I can imagine the frustration you are going thru.

Hang in there and have faith!!
