    We moved!

A couple of weeks ago Bubba and I moved from San Francisco to Midland, Texas to join my boyfriend. Bubba is adjusting well, but it's definitely completely different for him. He's always been an incredibly temperate dog, getting upset if it was over 70, so this is a big change and we take lots of short walks instead of a few long ones. The fact that my boyfriend and I are both home almost all the time has definitely made the transition easier, Bubba is feeling pretty spoiled with the constant attention. I had always worked from home at least 50% of the time, but now that I'm in Texas I'm remote from my SF based job 100% of the time. And my boyfriend's schedule is that he works on location for 2 weeks and then has vacation for two weeks. For someone with a family that would be tough, but for us it's been amazing. We already have plans for every 2 week off period, including Mexico, Iceland, and the Netherlands (plus a bunch of camping road trips to visit family). We're not in the most exciting part of Texas, but getting to be together and making the most of the money we're saving is making it worth it.

If you have any recommendations for Texas or New Mexico let me know! Neither of us have spent much time in this area before.

Well the food in that area is just phenomenal if you like Mexican. Over the top. Everything is a road trip which I love and was raised on. Off the top of my head, White Sands, Cloudcroft (stay at The Lodge) and Carlsbad Caverns. Austin is a never ending feast. Congratulations on your move! It's just beautiful out there. Drive with your windows down.

I've actually been to Midland & Odessa, so I feel for Bubba LOL! It's going to be hot, hot, hot, dry, dry, dry and dusty, dusty, dusty! And, oh my goodness, what a change from San Francisco. You're very brave, I'm not sure I could live there. It does have small town feel going for it, which might be a really nice change for you. I did a computer installation there, and the people I worked with were some of the nicest of any place I'd been to.

Get that pup a baby pool to lounge in - he's going to need it! Can't wait to see some pics of him enjoying his new surroundings. I bet he really is enjoying having you around all day, that's awesome!

Congrats on the move! I lived in Alamagorda, New Mexico for a little over 4 years, and can honestly say it was the least favorite place I've ever lived. However, WHite Sands and Cloudcroft are nice places to visit. White Sand will give you a sense of desolation just 5 minutes from the parking lot. Santa Fe is also really nice.

Glad to hear the move went so well.

Know about crazy work schedules. DH works nights and sleeping days. I'm cleaning house after 9pm. Hey, it works for us. Sounds like as "different' as your schedule is, it's working for you and definitely for Bubba having you home.
