    New tiller - so excited!

I am just amazed at what you can get these days for such a reasonable price. Last year I "plowed" under a good portion of a hay field using my Cub Cadet heavy duty rototiller. I'll finish the rest this year with that equipment alone.

This year, I was looking at our backyard. It's tricky because we're on a hill. The yard has always been awkward and pretty much unusable. So I looked up terracing and became convinced I could get in a couple of good gardens around the trees and dog yard and, more importantly, a seating area around the dwarf pear tree which hasn't produced yet but looks healthy.

Getting the heavy duty tiller into these smaller spaces just isn't reasonable so I picked up a nine inch Mantis. Used it for the first time today. Phenomenal! I couldn't believe how powerful and sturdy this thing is! I'll have the whole backyard terraced in a couple of days with only a few hours a day of work. It was just over $300. I could literally dig a hole with it. Where were these things when I was a kid?

Not sure what tiller we have but certainly not huge. It's adequate for what we need. Actually tilled up the entire front yard and replanted the grass two years ago. Doing gardens by hand is a pain in the, well you know what. Now all gates and gardens have to be at least as wide as a round or two of the tiller.

I prepped a new area for a small garden last year with a hoe and shovel. Just ridiculous. It took forever. I just don't have that kind of time.
