Teeth, poison ivy, knocking on strangers' doors at 7 am? You are quite a trooper!

I'm quite allergic to poison ivy as well and we have it in our planting beds around some of our trees. Many years our beds look like a mess because I hate getting there there and risking getting poison ivy. A few years ago I saw an article online from a guy who said that more important than the product you use to wash off the poison ivy is to use a wash cloth or loofah along with whatever soap you use, that the friction is more important than the soap. I've been using a washcloth since then and haven't had any bad rashes that required steroids like I have in the past. I don't know if I've been more careful or if it's the technique but whatever it is, it's working for me. I don't know if this is the same guy I saw a few years ago but here's one video with him describing his post-exposure technique.

I hope you're spared the agony of that rash!

this is the stuff I have for after exposure (works great): https://www.amazon.com/Tecnu-Origina...ison+ivy+scrub

this gel is for pre-exposure: https://www.amazon.com/Poison-Oak-Co...rds=ivy+shield

I don't know how that gel works...I have an old bottle of something called Ivy Shield (works great) that seems to no longer be made.

Washcloth is a good idea...especially if you don't have any special cleanser.

But I've had very minor isolated rashes from the stuff since so I'm hoping my sensitivity has lessened with age.
I worry that you used your teeth. I once rubbed my eyes after cutting a jalapeno and thought I was going to go blind. I hope you're OK.

My teeth worry that I used my teeth.

The part I gnawed on was a bit removed from where I'd picked up the birds and was affixed to the ground where no ivy was growing...I think. I had pulled up enough to be able to get to it without bending too much (and squashing the birds)...I'd started out hoping I could just rip it, but I couldn't. At that point, teeth were all I had.

I used to sew and was always biting the thread to cut it if scissors weren't handy. I'm sure that's one of the reasons I ended up getting veneers on my front teeth years ago. It's been a long time since I've used my teeth for this kind of nonsense...not a habit I'm thinking of bringing back. But they do come in handy.

Yep. And I got my folding scissors yesterday so I'm good to go with that.

A sparrow followed us for a while this morning...starting near where I'd picked up those two the other day. I couldn't help but wonder if it was one of "my" sparrows...maybe recognized my voice (I talk to the dogs as we're walking...on-and-off, not trying for conversation...). Yeah...probably not.

You know I wonder if you got into blackberries or raspberries. Even in calm situations they can be hard to distinguish. You are in the right zone for both.
