It's the May 24 long weekend here. Aka Victoria Day weekend, Queen Victoria's birthday, which we now celebrate on the closest previous Monday instead of the real day as we did when I was a kid. It's a time people set off fireworks and I forgot to get Joey in early. He came out to me twice, when I called him, but boomers, some REAlly loud ones, went off down the street and he streaked under the deck and hid.
Finally I had a brainwave, bring Oban out. Oban isn't bothered by fireworks and Joey will most often go to see Oban before me. Worked. Joey ventured out to play with the dog, and my only difficulty was seeing both of them in the dark and catching Mr. Joe, who just wanted to bounce and play now his big brother was out to give him reassurance.

Oh yeah, 2 black pets in the dark, that's an issue! I'm glad Oban provided a comforting presence to young (?) Joey!
They have to be the coolest pair ever!
Oban, you did a good job. I think that calls for a nice treat!!!!!!
These two have an awesome bond!
That is so cool that Oban and Joey trust each other so much and look out for each other too!

Somebody a few houses down lit fireworks off Saturday afternoon at about 5:30. We had a couple of families over. Georgia went in the house and wouldn't come out of the bedroom. Not until we put some steaks on the grill but it took her awhile to come back out.
glad you found a solution, very sweet they have such a great bond!
