Nothing yet. Been such crazy weather, cold, wet, frost, more rain. Might just do tomatoes in pots this year, green beans in the garden. Spending more time reworking flower gardens and redoing beds.

They always like to be in Hemi's favorite spot. They are in this vine.

Hemi doesn't seem to mind them, but they sure do not like Hemi out there.
That's funny! We took down a magnolia that was too close to the house and not flowering for years. I kept pawing through the branches to see if there were nests. We were safe. Tell Hemi to watch getting dive bombed.

I put three tomato plants in and three pepper plants. A large jalapeno, hot pepper and a square hot pepper but I can't recall the name. For fun I put a row of green onion, regular onions and carrots from seed. I am not sure if they will grow.

I started to put crushed eggshells in the soil, buried a couple of inches under the soil and ever since I have had something visiting the garden at night. The eggshells have been dug up and there are some paw prints. Any ideas what it might be?
    Thanks Everyone!!

Here I would immediately think possum. They love eggs and eggshells. I leave our possums alone though because they aerate everything including my compost piles and the goat yard which is essentially a huge compost yard. How big are the prints?

Ill have to get a photo tomorrow. It's been raining so it's hard to tell if they are prints but there are a few holes and the eggshells have been dug up. The garden is raised and I have a plastic fence around it but not secured well. It looks like it came through under he fence. It could just be mice.
    Thanks Everyone!!

I believe they are chipmunks, I saw quite a few of them in the area today. They are living under my ground deck. I was vacuuming the pool and one ran by me and right into Georgia who was lying on the cement. She didn't notice and the thing just turned around and went the other way when it noticed a dog was laying there.

I would love to get rid of them but it sounds like a difficult task from what I have read.

Peppermint oil is a temporary solution and all natural but requires quite a bit of work. Rat poison blocks secured in a TomKat enclosure is another option but you have to be careful if Georgia might eat a poisoned one.

Thanks. I have been reading that they and other critters don't like human hair. They hate the smell and touch of it. And it can also be an effective mulch. It so happens my daughter is a hairstylist. I asked her for a bag of hair and she said okay. She didn't question me and said I know it's for your garden, people ask for bags of hair all the time. We shall see how it goes.

Somebody is leaving peanuts out for them. We have been finding tons of peanuts and shells around the yard.
    Thanks Everyone!!

A guy I work with had this problem, he did solve it but it is pretty brutal. The best method he found was called the bucket of death. Basically you take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it half way up with water. Then you take a 2x4 making a ramp up to the bucket. Then you take some corn seed, dried corn, just enough to put in the bucket so it covers the water. The corn will flow and the water will not be visible. He also adds some corn to the 2x4 ramp. The Chipmunks will climb the 2x4 to eat the corn, see the big bunch of corn in the bucket and jump in. They do drown of course because they can not get out. Clean them out every day until they are all gone.
