Here's a Silly Laugh for You, at My Expense

I washed my watchband yesterday and this morning it was dry and ready to put back on the watch. Not that it's a really big trouble or tricky or hard at all to put the band on but I did think to make sure the watch was the right way up and I could read the numbers when I threaded the band through. No point in doing it twice. Good, ready to head out with Oban at 2:06 Sunday morning. Wait, what? 2:06? That's not right. It's Sunday morning, just after 9:00. 9:02 to be exact. Off with the band and on again. Who knew the number 2 was the same both ways on a digital watch? Who cares where the colon goes, you don't read it, you only read the numbers. LOL

Got a funny where pre-planning and thinking ahead just didn't help you either? Go ahead, share.

I have to be cautious about date formats.

One of my roles at work is acting as an Invitation to Bid submitter/collector/purchase order preparer. While I understand and can interpret the differences between metric and American measures, date formats can be confusing. Sometimes it's really important to compare ship dates. Sometimes it's unclear whether a ship date of 08/07/17 means July 08 2017 or August 07 2017. One of my roles at work is purchaser/purchase order preparer/receiver so I sometimes need to call or email the vendor and confirm the ship date.

I've run into the same issue as Andrew when trying to figure out immunization records on kids coming from countries using the date/month/year format rather than the month/date/year format generally used here in the US. Plus, sometimes their records have already been transcribed by someone else, which can complicate things. One big tip off that someone recopied it and didn't really clue in to what format was being used is when the record suggests that the child received an immunization before they were born. Good trick.

Our electronics in the house are digital but my watch and the clock beside my bed are analog. If I need to check a pulse rate, I find having a second hand easier than using the digital second count. If I need to use a timer at work, I use my phone. If I'm not working, I don't even wear a watch any more. I have put the band back on my watch upside down and if you're just glancing at the position of the hands, not really looking at the numbers, I've found myself wondering what's wrong with my watch when I'm sure I put it on correctly. Yeah, the strap is right, the watch face is not.
