    We could use some rain!

I don't know why I keep depending on weather.com or accuweather.com to tell me if we're getting rain. On more than one occasion I've put off watering the grass I planted, or the rhododendron, hostas, gaura, etc. because weather.com will say we're going to get rain overnight, in the morning, in the evening, and then it either doesn't materialize or the amount it rains isn't even measurable. Right now weather.com says there's a 70% chance of thunderstorms at 5 pm, accuweather says a 40% chance at 5 pm. A few hours ago weather.com said 100% chance of rain at 6 pm, now it says 60%. At least accuweather is in agreement on that one point. May was so lovely and cool-ish with that nice kind of rain that is of sufficient quantity and gentle temperament that it soaked in and things were looking good. Now, if it calls for rain it's thunderstorms and flash flood warnings. We have too much yard to just pave it!

Those of you who are gardening this year, how are your gardens, flower or vegetable, coming along? Do you even pay attention to the weather forecast?

Accuweather is always wrong...at least for us.

I like Weather Channel or Weather Underground.

And, yes, we really do need the rain. Right now we have dark skies and thunder and are supposed to have a bad storm any minute....sure looks like it.....(Accuweather says not till 6. Hah!). I hate having to start the sprinkler routine but we really are dry!!!

OK....the rain has started. Let's see if Mother Nature will be good to us.

I just looked at the radar, it's looking pretty evil over the Chesapeake Bay, and moving this way. And yes, we could use some rain too.

It'll be interesting this week when that system in the Gulf gets closer to us. They are predicting anywhere from five to fifteen inches of rain around here.

We had a long spell of dry, of course during the time I wanted to do a lot of planting and moving some plants around. We've had some decent rains for the past half week but I don't rely on the weather forecasts. Hand watered everything this morning and of course, nice downpour this afternoon.

Would like it to be nice tomorrow afternoon with the grands coming over for dinner and outside play.

It has rained pretty much every day or every other day here for the month of June so far. I get our pool cleaned our and the water balanced and it rains again and puts everything back again. The next four out of seven days are rain predicted. Th golf courses area mess as are ball fields and soccer fields. Its starting to get depressing.
    Thanks Everyone!!

I'm fortunate to be close enough to the border to get useful information from the good old National Weather Service. The NWS has by far the best blend of weather and climate information, accuracy, and coverage. And their info is delivered at levels suitable for lay folks or weather geeks. My other sources include Weather Underground and Environment Canada. Those 'It will rain at 2:45PM' fantasy forecasts delivered by the for profit people amuse me. The last time I noticed, weather does not wear a watch.

May was very wet, so far June is a little below normal. Our rain barrels are full. After a fairly warm few days temperatures are back to seasonal averages. Life is good.

We are floating away. My field is a soggy mess. I have delayed planting for so long but I think I can extend the growing season with my row covers and a really cheap greenhouse I picked up on clearance.

And now it's pouring again. No one predicted that except us. We were driving down the road and my husband said, "There's way too much energy in the atmosphere. It's going to rain." Sure enough. Now all I need is a trick knee. Or maybe just watching Zo to see if she gets anxious . . .

Too much energy in the atmosphere? I can't say I'm that tuned in! And I don't have any joints to warn me either.

I'll have to try the National Weather Service and Weather Underground sites. Thanks for the leads! We got about 3/4 of an inch right after I wrote the original post- during a time that weather.com said we had a 15% chance of rain. And no rain at 6 pm, no surprise!
