I trimmed my goats' hooves. It had to be done as an absolute necessity. For some reason, Thelma's hooves have started to grow out really fast. But she hates getting a trim so this process takes a good half hour at the very least just for her. I have to tether her then kind of calmly pursue her as she thrashes around until she calms down enough for me to grab her leg(s). This is best done while it's cool so she doesn't overheat during the process.
I finally got one going and she's vocalizing like nothing doing and Louise decided to come to her rescue. She starts head butting the back of my leg. Mind you, these are miniature goats and Louise is the smaller one weighing about 28 pounds soaking wet so this activity is completely futile. But she has scurs (fake horns) that are a couple of inches long and she keeps doing it and doing it throughout the entire process.
The backs of my calves are black and blue. Someone asked me if I was OK. All I had was, "Have you ever trimmed a goat's hooves?"
