He is so cute, I love the picture on his back! It seems like it takes a long time from hatching to weaning, it seems like you have been waiting a long time! I obviously know nothing about birds!
Hello everyone!
I haven't been on the board much lately but Koopa is doing great and is his usual goofy adorable self And, I finally went to choose my parrot baby at the breeders last Sunday (from a clutch of 4) and wanted to introduce him to you So meet...
T-Rex!
The clutch had two boys and 2 girls and he was the one who seemed the sweetest and we cuddled him for a whole hour He should be weaned and ready to come home in another month, I can't wait!
Here are two more pics, one of T-Rex and me (the breeder has us put on those lab coats before interacting with the birds) and one of T-Rex being goofy and laying on his back

T-Rex is a real cutie. He looks so comfortable being on his back. Know next to nothing about raising a bird, but it seems that the breeder spends a lot of time with them socializing them.
Bet you can't wait until he gets home.

Aw...bigger birds are fun. My little love bird won't allow me to scratch him under his wing and he certainly doesn't lie on his back. Just in case you don't know, his black beak will probably change once he's older, and as a boy, I would expect him to do his fair share of humping!

I've never thought about birds humping..... (perhaps this will be an installment in the thread about "Days of our Labs"....with Koopa as T-Rex' significant other)
He's really cute....can't wait to start seeing pics of him and Koopa interacting (no....not in the way mentioned above).

Thanks everyone! And yes parrots take a long time to wean (the bigger they are, the longer it takes). T-Rex was born on March 21st and should be ready to go by the end of July, beginning of August so a bit more than four months. And yes I chose this breeder because he seemed (and really is, now that I know him) just amazing with care and socialization for his babies. The parrots are getting used to all kinds of different people, birds and dogs as well as tons of new situations, including grooming and handling, so that they are started well in life. They are fed high quality food (pellets, fruits, veggies...) and played with a lot.
And lol JenC, I do know about the humping. I had a male lovebird and a male cockatiel when I was young, enough said :P
And I also know his beak, as well as his feathers will change when he grows up. The beak will become black with pink marks and his head will become a deep blue and he will unfortunately loose the pink feathers on his forehead (I just find them so cute).
Here is a pic of the parents for comparison with adult birds:
