Our holistic vet uses cinnamon. I like peppermint. There are so many. It really depends on what both of you like. aromaland advertises 250. I'm deathly allergic to perfume and don't have a problem with most herb and spice essential oils.

What are you using it for? I'm not really too into the holistic/natural/ etc thing, to be truthful. I've tried using peppermint oil to keep field mice from coming into the house and I like using lavender eye pillows during the end/relaxation phase of yoga classes. Peppermint is supposed to be energizing, citrus energizing (maybe), lavender relaxing. I guess it depends upon what effect you're looking for. I just ordered the peppermint oil from amazon.com and a lavender eye pillow from some yoga site.

Young's Living has very high quality oils. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks to ensure I get quality oils. I love essential oils. Lavender is very good for relaxing at the end of a long day. Peppermint is invigorating and provides a pep throughout that day. Also helps with sinus issues. You can find many guides on the internet that will explain the function of each oil. A few drops in a diffuser and it's not overwhelming. Just need to pick the right oil for the occasion.

Some essential oils can be very dangerous for pets, breathing them or ingesting them. Especially cats. I do use oil of peppermint to keep the cats off my window screens.

A co-worker and her mom make soaps using essential oils. Lavender can be calming, eucalyptus and pine can be invigorating. She just gifted me a bar with oils said to repel insects including mosquitoes and ticks. We are testing it by not bathing using it, simply rubbing it on our skin. Seems to be working. She started using an insect spray combining a number of ingredients - oils of citronella, eucalyptus, tea tree, cedarwood, cageput; vinegar; and dish soap (the surfactant). It's strong-smelling yet kind of pleasant. We have an awful problem with skeeters and ticks at our workplace and she says it's working well. So I think we will try it.
