Those are really really purdyyyyy.....
At the few hunt tests i've been to, there have been some really wonderful custom hand-made calls on offer either in the raffle or in a silent auction. Last years Master National had 2 spectacular calls. I just couldn't bring myself to put in a bid or ticket on either of them..... fear of losing them (yes, i do use that app you speak of...and have lost one off it anyway) and figuring i don't know enough to fully appreciate them in use....
funny story about calls. I had an inexpensive mass-produced call i bought when i started training 2 years ago, figured it was required equipment, but came to appreciate that it made an appropriate noise with no fuss thru spring rains, mist, summer heat, fall, then winter snow. then last fall, it fell off my lanyard. we looked and looked (as i was gunning and therefore had a pretty good idea when and where it had departed its hold) no luck. Early this spring, before the 1st plows hit, low and behold, training back in that field, i was just walking out to plant some decoys, and there it was.... still works, its now my "backup" to the call i had to buy to replace it. And even those mass-produced inexpensive calls are $30-$45 dollars up here!
Oh, and today at training? my small "normal" whistle decided at some point early in the afternoon to leap off the clip on the whistle lanyard, leaving the big honker whistle all by its lonesome... you'd think it would be easy to spot, being hunter orange. but nope.... its not like it was an expensive item, but now i'm down to just my spare...i found a nest of 5 whistles with lanyards at an antique mall in Savannah 2 years ago, bought them all, and gave 3 away to other newbies in our little training group. I need to find a nest of those again!

I lost mine in the same fashion. I didn't notice it was gone until I arrived home. I went back the next day and spent an hour searching for it. No such luck. Several months and a new call later, I was cleaning my truck and found the original call wedged under the driver's seat. It must have fallen off the lanyard in the truck .. DOH I hate when that happens.
I would love to buy one of these! I just have an ugly brown generic one on my lanyard.
