    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Janedoe.

Be glad all you got were questions. OH got a visit. He saw debris at a busy country intersection with snow drifts building up, jumped out at his stop sign (no one behind him) grabbed the stuff and threw it off the road up onto snowbanks. Somebody on the through road saw him, got his license and reported him for littering. When the cop arrived at our house and saw how old OH was he believed him. He gave OH heck for not calling the debris in and having the county remove it. That could have taken hours. Meanwhile OH did it himself and prevented an accident. The cop didn't even look at it, he didn't know what the stuff was, interesting eh?

I hear you. I worked with a large city police department when I was 18. Heard a lot of stories. None about debris but in this day and age, you never know. He did ask for a detailed description. Frankly, it just looked like a bunch of twisted metal fell off the back of a truck which makes sense since it is near one of those companies that recycle totaled cars.

Thanks! It's funny. I really don't feel like I'm turning 50. It's vaguely irritating and I've never had a problem with birthdays before. It's like I just don't really believe it.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they had shown up. We are practically across the street from the department. They could go for a walk at lunch and wind up at our house.

I think it may be new procedure. I just called to pick up a stray I had contained in my back yard. they asked the same questions. I think they are making a data base of people and their cell numbers.

Before moving to Canada I flew up from Texas several times to visit Faye. Once I rented a car at the Detroit airport and crossed the border using a ferry. Going back the ferry was not operating so I had to use a major bridge crossing. On the US side, in addition to the usual questions the CBP uniform asked about the rental car and asked some very personal questions (very bad words came to mind but I kept them to myself). I was also asked why I crossed into Canada at [ferry crossing name]. The question was so unexpected I replied 'Beg your pardon?'. He asked again and I replied that in addition to being more scenic it was a more direct route to my destination. I wondered to myself 'How on earth did he know that?'

Driving away I realized ahhhhh, I had been on Candid Camera at the ferry crossing.

Then he stated my birthday and asked me if that was it. I laughed.

Why is he asking me this? Frankly, it's not even relevant who I am. There's a bunch of stuff in the middle of the road. Why is it so important who called it in?
I cannot see the relevancy of that question, either. So it was your birthday and you said "yes." Couldn't you have been someone else and said "yes" as well?
