We do most of Brooks field training at a high school that was built across the road from our development. There are massive fields which allow us to set up a lot of different retrieves. There are two very large retention ponds which have a good amount of fish. I won't let the dogs swim in them, as the water is mostly run off, and you can see the scum on the water. Tonight when we arrived there was a heron doing his thing. Of course I didn't have my camera with me, but when we were finished training I went home dropped Brooks and DW off, grabbed my camera and headed back. Fortunately he was still there, unfortunately I had lost the good light that was there earlier, making it a lot tougher to shoot.

Those are still good shots. Nice to see that, isn't it?

Great photos. Those birds are huge, or they can be. I see them once in a while near this small lake and if they startle and fly away before you realize you're near them, that can be scary!

I like the last photo the best.

Great pictures! When I lived in Savannah we called them "long legged dudes".

The next to last picture looks like it could be on an ancient Japanese screen. And I think the subdued lighting is just perfect.

Occasionally one visits the shallow pond at the back of my employer's property. I enjoy watching them fly, wings slowly powering, neck and legs stretched out.
Good photos, thanks for sharing.
