    Good for you, Grandma!

My grandmother passed earlier today just shy of her 100th birthday. She was just fine until Sunday when hospice was called in and passed quickly.

    Raise a glass!

My glass is a mug with coffee, but to your Grandma. I hope you miss her terribly and with every memory keep her in your heart, forever.

She was the perfect Grandma. Never disciplined us and supplied us with boxes of candy for every holiday. She hasn't known who I am for many years but was healthy right up to the end. If I seem abnormally upbeat it's because my greatest fear is that the people I love will die miserably. I'm happy that she didn't and we've had many years to prepare.

I feel the same way. We were at a funeral for a +95 year old recently and the daughter kept telling people, we are not grieving as much as celebrating the great life the lady had and happy there was no prolonged misery for her. The same for my Mum.

Sounds like she had a great life and was an awesome grandmother. That is worth celebrating. Even so, so sorry for your loss. Bet she left you with many memories.

We had a full family reunion for her 90th birthday. That was huge. Literally everyone showed up. She was officially diagnosed with Alzheimers shortly afterward and placed in a fantastic care facility. We actually considered moving cross country to place my mother in law there. Seventy percent of my family is in the area so she had lots of visitors. At some point though the conversation shifted from her care to how cool it is that all of her great grandchildren knew her. I was really upset right after getting the news but the sheer length of time she was with us just makes me really happy. That's some good stuff.
