    Of husbands and refrigerators...

Brought the husband home from the hospital from having his second knee surgery. He almost died of sepsis the last time (not exaggerating... white count over 20,000, fever, atrial fibrillation, lungs not perfusing, hemoglobin dropping, electrolytes deranged, not making a lot of urine) so it's been stressful.

He's doing beautifully this time (better nursing care can do wonders) and we came home from the hospital last night. And the refrigerator died this morning.

"Maybe I can help you move it and you can see if it came unplugged"

NO!!! Come on, honey. Geese-a-wee! Are you nuts!

Oh well, you can trade the fridge in on a new model easier than the husband. So there is that.

Glad to hear your husband is home and do much better. As for the refrigerator incident, chalk it up to being a man. It's how their brain works.

Hope you can get it fixed/replaced quickly.

So glad your husband is OK. It's hard to keep them quiet, especially when they get the good drugs.

Well... we won't be buying a new fridge any time soon. It was able to be put back in running order. (And it was NOT the plug!) And hubby is doing well. Guess I get to keep both.

No. The first knee turned out great (ultimately.) That was his right. This is his left. I'm thinking that the first knee surgery actually made the second knee worse. A lot of times, people with osteoarthritis get bow-legged. So when they replaced his first knee... they straightened the leg out. Which made it functionally longer than the other. The change in gait probably made things worse on the left. But it was a failing knee anyway. If he hadn't had such a nightmare experience with the first surgery, he might have gotten the other knee done sooner.

Yikes... glad hubby is doing well. Monday was my day for my chest freezer to be suddenly defrosted. I'm sure you can understand how HAPPY I was that I decided to pull some dead ducks out for training that morning??? Oh my. It was defrosted but still cool to the feel so the ducks (I bet I had 40 in there!) had not started stinking yet though I wondered why my girls were running by it and turning their heads! Thermostat was replaced by 430pm and all is well again. ughhhhhhhhh.

Isn't it cute how they think the little lady needs some help performing feats of strength? At least he thought to ask in advance rather than waiting until after the deed was completed to see if you wanted help or just going out and doing it himself. And yeah, recent post-op anything probably isn't the time to exert himself by moving a refrigerator. I'm glad he's healing up. I'll be working for a nurse who's having both her knees replaced, one a week after the first. Your story of sepsis is not confidence inspiring.
