    Thunderbirds at Dover AFB

Dover AFB was my last duty station, I retired out of there in August of 1999. They are having an Open House/Air Show this weekend, and they had a sneak peak for military ID card holders today. This gave me a great opportunity for some up close and personal pics of the team.

I can honestly say I don't miss being in the USAF, however these events do make me feel a bit nostalgic! I did run into a couple guys who worked for me when I was the Chief Controller of the tower at Dover, and it was good to catch up! A few of us "old guys" plan on meeting up at a local restaurant tomorrow evening, should be a lot of fun!

Very cool! I love photo #3, coming in at - what, 50 feet? AGL and probably 300 plus mph.

He was taking off in this pic, so I'd say between 250-300 knots. They solo's made a couple passes at 500-600kts, the jet went by and a second or so later you heard it.

Oh, that makes sense. I jumped to the conclusion he was doing a very low pass.
