Love those little mushrooms....so cool.
I wish I could get more interested in photography and actually learn what to set and why. I learned long ago that I'm definitely a point-and-shoot person.

I follow this guy on facebook. He offers a lot of online courses/info, and I signed up for the basic course just to check it out. I got a "special deal" for $9 so I figured what did I have to lose??? The basic course does a great job explaining all the basic operations, F Stop, Shutter Speed, ISO, Focus, etc.... There is also a lot of free content which can be very helpful. One great thing regarding digital photography is it costs nothing to experiment. Shoot the same picture at different settings, F Stops, Shutter Speeds, etc just to see what happens. I use manual modes with my Canon 80D 99% of the time.

Thanks Barry, I will look into that. The OH likes Tony Northrup so I have looked at a few of his sites. Much to my surprise a fellow I grew up with has several photography "how to" and review sites.
I did some reading on White Balance and now need to see where the settings are in my camera. I did not understand how your comment on it pertained to my post but now I realize you said check it because of my trouble with yellow flowers in bright light. Thanks, opened up a whole new understanding for me.

Good luck with the new camera. Like others have said, just keep shooting! Start out shooting in the auto mode and then look at what settings the camera decided for a given picture. Then you can experiment and shoot it in manual with YOUR settings. The camera for dummies books are another great idea. A few pages a night and you will have your camera mastered in no time.
People are amazed at the number of shots I take when shooting an event. It's digital ... shoot away! It is especially true to take lots of shots when kids or animals are involved. It never fails that a kid will make the perfect face just after the camera fires. If you shoot a couple quick shots .. you got that face.
Congrats on the new camera.
