Worst thing to explode in your car.

The cap of a syrup bottle just popped off in the trunk of our car. My husband has berry boxes down to protect the carpet so it wasn't as bad as it could have been but it was a hot mess. Just disgusting.

What's the worst thing that ever exploded in your car?

UGH, what a mess. Thank goodness you had some protection. I keep a folded heavy cotton blanket in the back of the SUV more for Archie mess.

Funny you should bring this up. The headrest on the passenger side exploded. Yep, that's right. Apparently in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee the head rest is made to "explode" like a clam shell, making the angle of it better in the event of a rear end crash. That's when it's supposed to open. It did it on the driveway, nobody in it.

Part and labor was close to $800. We have the extended warranty so I called to see how to handle a claim. To my surprise they said it was not covered, "only electrical and mechanical" and they considered this cosmetic. No way was I going to swallow that! Told the girl that I felt it was a defect, even finding others who this had happened to, some when they were driving and it was the drivers seat causing them to swerve on the road. I was nice but firm. Took the car in and labor was free and we are getting back half of the cost of the part which left us with a $200 cost of which $100 was the deductible.

Not as messy as yours but bet it took much more time to resolve.

That is just bizarre! And incredibly dangerous. Who would design something like that?

A milkshake went over. Most of it landed on the floor mat, but some went under the passenger seat. Under the seat was hard to clean but I must have gotten it all up since my fear of smelling spoiled milk never materialized.

When my son was about a year old he had a pretty horrible diaper explosion in his car seat. It was summer, in a truck with no air conditioning, and all he was wearing was a diaper. Thank God for vinyl seats.

    I still have nightmares.

2 things that have been the worst, I can't decide which is worse.

The first one which was a horrible reek for days. Hemi's Anal glands. Horrible smell, horrible mess. No idea how they got so full.

The second one was a high end bottle of vinegar. I really enjoy making my own salad dressings. My sister bought me a really expensive bottle of great tasting apple cider vinegar. When she gave it to me it was all sealed up tight so I wouldn't forget it I just put it on the front seat of my car truck. Not thinking it was going to get to 90 that day and I had all the windows rolled up. Later in the evening when I got in the truck to go home it was quite a shocker. Luckily vinegar is and can be used as a cleaner and it didn't stain anything but it took weeks to get the smell of it out of my car. It soaked through the seats and on to the floor into the carpet.

Unsure if this fits 'explode' . . .

Back in Texas I had a female black mixed breed named Avis. One day a friend and I took Avis and another dog, a GSD, to the lake. Avis was still a young-ish pup. Both dogs were unrestrained (I wasn't as cautious then) and as we neared our turnoff Avis began that circling that both of us recognized as a really bad, ominous sign. We were on a hilly, curvy stretch of county road where there was no shoulder, no safe place to pull over. Despite our yelling 'No, No, No!' she took a dump. It was a warm day and smelled vile; at least it was in the cargo area and was firm.

Not gone, only gone on ahead - Bruno, Rex, BoJo, Kendal, Kingsley, Moonpie, Avis, Corndog, Stella, and now Achilles

You WIN!! That would be a trade in the car moment if I ever had one.
