The burning question of the week - How much tuna?

I love tuna. Always have since childhood. We made our own lunches for school and I would throw a can of tuna, a fork and a can opener in a bag. As an adult, I make three different tuna salad recipes and consider the bread for the sandwich to be secondary to the filling and open faced is good.

The first time I made a tuna sandwich in front of my husband, he was shocked. I use one can per sandwich and if the bread is too big, I'll just cut off enough to make the filling sufficiently bulky. He made fun of me to no end. He has come around to my way of thinking but he was raised to believe that one can fed two people. I just don't see the point of eating a sandwich if you can't find the filling. Why not just make toast at that point?

So my question is, how much tuna do you put in your sandwich?

I went to Catholic school for grades 1 through 8, and we did not have a cafeteria, so I brown bagged it the whole time. Being a bit of a picky eater as a kid, the only thing I would eat was tuna fish sandwiches. For 8 years. Every. Single. Day.

I love fresh ahi tuna (sushi/sashimi) and I can eat albacore out of the can in a pinch. But a tuna sandwich. No freakin' way!!!!

Scared of all the mercury supposedly in it. Use less now than we did. But as to sandwiches, I can get three out of one can, but I add lots of celery and other stuff.

I can get 2 sandwiches out of a can with part of the filling oozing out. But...if it's just me I'll eat one sandwich and the rest out of the bowl...or all out of the bowl.

I think the cans have less in them than they used to. Maybe 5 1/2 ounces rather than 7? I buy the large packets and get 2-3 sandwiches

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Hard to say LOL, my Tuna sandwiches are huge. First no ordinary bread will do. I bake my own bread. Which tends to be twice as big as store bought. Then I make up my tuna salad in a large bowl. Then spread in on the bread so it fills the bread.

My Tuna Salad recipe is below. I usually double it up, maybe get 3 sandwiches.

Two 6-ounce cans white meat tuna packed in water, drained
    2 tablespoons+ minced celery
2 tablespoons+ minced red onion, soaked in cold water for 5 minutes and drained
    1 teaspoon minced flat-leaf parsley
1/3 cup light mayonnaise or olive oil mayo
    1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
    Freshly ground black pepper

A grilled cheese sandwich with tuna salad cooked in it is my favorite way to eat tuna salad! Thank you to the overnight cooks who used to run a little grill and sandwich place in the hospital back in the day!

LOL so much for the age old parental thought of letting them eat it till they get tired of it. Well it worked, but I don't know of any parent I've heard suggest this strategy who thought it would take 8 years.

I NEVER even tasted tuna till I went away to university. My Mum never had it when she was a kid and I guess just didn't know what to do with it. We never had meatloaf either for the opposite reason, Mum was sick and tired of it.
