    Silly things we do.

We have two vehicles - an '09 Mazda3 Sport (hatchback) and a '99 Mazda B2500 pickup ('Old Reliable'), which I infrequently drive. Both vehicles' keys are on my key ring. Faye is away with the car so I did errands in the truck.

I got out at one stop and clicked the car remote to lock the truck. Oops, that was silly. Here's the thing.

Old Reliable doesn't even have a remote. You'd think I might remember that since I bought it new in 2000.

What silly thing have you done lately?

I've been driving a ton of rental cars in recent years. I finally have stopped reaching for the shifter and going for the clutch (my car is a manual) when driving other cars, but after longer rentals when I put my car in reverse I look at the radio for the backup screen.

Yep. Both our vehicles are manuals and when in a rental I go for the clutch and shifter for a few times before remembering.

We've lived in several different states and cities and have found duplicate street names pretty common, not just names like Main or Second Street but less common names, too. I can be driving along and see Pickett Rd and have to pause to remember where I am and if this is the Pickett Rd that I wanted. You feel like you're in a parallel universe. When we first moved, a few times I made the turn when I didn't mean to.

And surprisingly, my front door doesn't unlock using my car's key fob! Who'd have guessed?!?!

Similar thing here in Canada. Of course you expect to see King Street, Queen, and so on. Less so Brock and Huron to name two.

My first car was a manual transmission. The other day I tried to hit the clutch on our truck which of course is an automatic. Shortened my response time. Plus my foot kind of hurt afterward.

Too many times I've tried to unlock the house door with the key fob. Irritating as heck as subconsciously I've piled my arms full of packages "knowing" there's no problem getting in the door. UGH!

When OH did a similar silly thing he found that not only would his F150 keys open my jeep but they started it too. Yikes. He came back in the house all worried and concerned because while my jeep did start it immediately stalled out and he thought we had a serious problem with it. The jeep keys would not open or start his truck. This was before remote starters for us.

Did you know a Starbucks gold card will not work as a swipe card into a secured building? Now I do.
