Oh no! Make sure you let it heal properly. My boyfriend broke his foot and it still gives him trouble because he was always taking the boot off and trying to be active before it had healed.

Thanks all, for the good wishes. The Doctor at the Fracture Clinic today was very nice, says I can keep the air boot instead of getting a plaster cast, just be very careful to not weight bear or twist the ankle. BUT, he says 8 weeks. I hope he's just guessing generally and it will be sooner than that till I can get going again.

ah man, that sucks! I can't imagine what i'd do if I broke my ankle (with Rocky or an active dog). Rely on friends and dog walkers I guess!

Hopefully you can enjoy feb-march snow

Thanks. I thought of you and some other single pet owners. OH is doing a lot for me. OUr house is a side split and the kitchen and bathroom are on different levels. It would be pretty difficult for me to manage micro elements of the day without him. A single friend of my sister's was very sick and her Mum moved in for a while to help her with her big dog. Darned if the Mum didn't get knocked off the low, no railing deck by the dog and break her hip. Then the Dad had to move in too.

From what I've heard from people who've broken/etc. their ankles, 8 weeks is the standard and, in some of the cases I know personally, was underestimating the time. One woman we used to see at the park where we walk the dogs has been months trying to heal hers...she's not staying off it enough. (sorry....but don't push it)

These are my skates. I had visions of being back skating Jan 1st. The skates are leather but those top edges feel like there is steel inside, very, very stiff. They'll hit my ankle just about at the break or a wee bit above. I have a feeling ice skating is not going to be a good thing to try to do right away.

ETA: My friend is in surgery right now having her arm pinned back together. It's awful, sounds like farming accidents you hear about, getting caught in the power take off. Horrible.
