They are so beautiful.
I always wonder/worry about their feet getting so cold. In fact, all bird's feet.

It looks like a summer scene... very sunny. They are elegant, are they not?
The photo was taken today and it was far from a balmy summer day here in New England. "Elegant" as they might appear, they are a non-native / introduced specie that is highly territorial and competitive with native waterfowl species and are therefore a bane to the natural ecology of waterfowl habitats in North America. Their populations are woefully out of control and should be significantly reduced.

I have heard that they are mean. Beautiful, though.

Not without a change to state and federal laws prohibiting it. But I sure would be willing. The current population control methods depend on totally inadequate addling of eggs and placing them back on the nest. Those measures barely scratch the surface of continually increasing populations.
