How do you get lure a snake out from the frame of an SUV?

So Saturday, my husband comes out of the garage to see a six foot long black snake in the driveway, just laying there. It was clear that he had just eaten as there was a huge lump in his neck. Donald runs inside to get the camera to take a picture. He comes back outside just in time to see the last foot or so of the snake disappear into the rear axle area of our Xterra. We tried driving him out. No snake appeared. We tried spraying water up there. No snake. This morning we came out and there was a pile of white chalky stuff splattered under the rear of the truck. Any guesses as to what snake poop/pee looks like? Yep. White chalky stuff. So he's up there, most likely in the spare tire, snoozing and pooping away his big meal.

We are concerned that he's going to be there for weeks as snakes tend to sleep for days after a big meal. We obviously can't drive the truck until he's out of there. We're also concerned that he is a she and is ready or has already laid eggs.

Mongooses are illegal in the states so we can't go that route. Any ideas?

Yikes! Call animal control! I would also try starting the engine and see if that scares it out. Good luck!

We drove the truck, revved the engine and nothing. We left it in the street over the weekend. Last night I drove it back into the driveway. This morning we saw all the poop/pee so I drove the truck with a snake in the back. *shudder* We're going to try a box of mothballs and shove it under where we think it is. But geez, get out of the truck already!

It's paid for and only has 40k miles on it. Although, drowning it sounds like a good idea and we have a launch ramp about a mile from the house.

I would park it at least a half a mile from my house and call animal control. I would call them and be hysterical and crying (though I seriously would be -- you may have to fake it) and give them no option but to help me. That is one of my worst nightmares!

Plan on spending July 4th tearing the vehicle apart. Or maybe run the vehicle to a carwash, four or five times. Or maybe play AC/DC really really loud on its stereo while it's parked somewhere. Or maybe forget/not forget about it.

I'm probably not being very helpful.

I was truly laughing out loud reading Labradorks posts. I wouldn't want one in my truck, but the black racer is a very cool snake, and I think getting rarer. That being said, I do think parking a half mile from home sounds good.

I have visions of buying a mouse and caging it near the truck as a lure, with a snake charmer as a fall back. I'm not very helpful, am I?

Seriously, isn't there a reptile specialist or zoo person that you could call for advice or help? Couldn't you take the tire off? If you are sure it is a black racer and not a poisonous snake, have a storage container or plastic garbage can handy to contain him until you can move him.

If you know where it is, one webpage suggested using a C)2 fire extinguisher and shooting it up where the snake is. Supposedly it'll make the area cold and the snake won't want to stay where it's cold. I don't know if that's true or not. I'd be tempted to abandon the car somewhere myself.

A black snake crawled up under my car. How do I get it out?
