In late December of last year Faye and I made a vow to take a self-portrait of us spending time outside every month of the year. We've kept that vow, and here are our portraits. It's kind of important to us to spend time outside, to live in and appreciate the climate. Not to say we necessarily love the time every time, yet we're in touch with out surroundings.
January 4. A balmy day, about -2 degrees (or 29 Fahrenheit).
February 9. Less balmy, -5C or 23F, cloudy and breezy. My memory suggests that we skedadalled inside shortly after we took this photo.
March 2, a sunny and pleasant day. It didn't feel like -10C or 15F.
April 13. Finally, short sleeves weather - a wonderful 21C or 70F.
May 10, dinner on the deck. 19.5, 66F. Wings, potato salad, and some of the first greens from our garden.
June 29, we almost let this month slip by. I smoked a brisket and close to the end a terrific thundershower rolled over us. A quick scramble ensued to get the electronics, gardening catalogs, library books, etc. inside. Then Faye rigged up this nifty little shelter from a tarp and a bean tripod. Then the sun emerged. Temperature about 26 or 79F.
We're outside now. It's a humid 29 or 84F yet there is a nice breeze so it's quite tolerable.

What a lovely idea

Your table moves around a lot, unless that's 2 different tables, a green and a beige one! Love the idea of monthly photos. Thanks!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Yep, two tables. I used the beige one to catch snowfall for measuring (and as you see we had a lot to measure in February!).

Your smiles get bigger and your body language more relaxed as the weather gets nicer! Cute!

Fun idea for the photos. You have a lot of fortitude to manage those cold weather patio outings . . . it would have taken a lot of hot coffee with a little shot of something to keep me out there very long.
Great idea! As uncomfortable as the cold weather is, it's much better for keeping the brew cold. Love the idea.

very nice
