    Cleared to land

While I was taking the pics of Brooks doing retrieves in the snow, flock after flock of Canadian Geese were flying over, heading to a field just west of my development. When I was done with Brooks, I took a drive over to the field, hoping to catch a few geese landing. These guys were coming in just as I hopped out of my car. I waited another 20 minutes, and no one else showed up.

I know the bird population is suffering a bit around here. All the local ponds, lakes, and rivers are frozen solid. I haven't seen my local Heron for a couple weeks, and wonder how the wading birds are getting through all this.

The herons most likely have scoped out the private little fish ponds with heaters keeping them clear. (don't ask me how I know that...)

    Love the first photo.
Andrew feeds the birds here and we were filling them twice a day during the “deep” freeze. Today when I got home they weren’t completely empty for a change. Still needed to be filled.

I hope so. I love Herons. I get all excited every time I see one!

I think I'm going to get feeder for the back yard tomorrow.

ATC Barry, nice of ye to give them permission to land. Now crop that annoying powerline out of that first shot and it's a winner. 👍

Yeah I agree! Might have to power up PHOTOSHOP! Or I'll have to go back to the original, I had cropped to this view, maybe I can go back and crop it out. I'll see which works best.
