You two are such a beautiful couple.

Always wondered how Faye kept from shivering.

      Gorgeous! Happy Anniversary!

Maybe you should share your story again, of how you met on this board?

Apologies for the tardy response. I am generally not on the internet on Wednesday.

silverfz, regal isn't a word that has come to mind in the past. Though now that you mention it . . .

      WhoopsaDaisy, thank you!

Shelley, thanks. Read below for the story.

IRISHWHISTLER, LOL. Well I wanted her to feel at home you know. Thanks for your good wishes!
      -------------------
      Here's the (short-ish) story.

We joined the Lab Board in 2003 or 2004, I'm not sure which year. I lived in Austin TX and Faye in Canada. Back in the day board members sometimes hosted a Lab Fest, inviting fellow members who lived in the area to a two- and four-legged meet and greet. I impulsively went to a Fest in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in February 2005 and enjoyed it ehough to have one of my own so I published an invitation to my own Lab Fest in April. Among the responses from people who lived in central Texas was a request from a Canadian.

Could a Canadian come even if she couldn't bring her dogs?

Well, uh, sure. After all, 'Texas friendly' is a state motto.

I picked Faye up at the airport Friday, the day before the Fest. Her hotel had a fridge and microwave so we went to HEB for some groceries before I dropped her off.

The Lab Fest was a success, at least in my mind. Faye and I met a bunch of people for dinner afterwards. I dropped her at her hotel afterwards and, assuming she was going bck home, asked when she needed to be at the airport the next day. 'My flight is next Friday.'

      Oh. Uh. Well OK. Cool.

So we spent afternoons and evenings during the next week doing my version of Austin - Mount Bonnell, walking my dogs on the Town Lake hike and bike trail, eating at some of my preferred restaurants. We discovered that we had a lot more in common than the love of and for dogs.

I took a long lunch that Friday to take Faye to the airport and getting back to work, must have looked a bit wistful. My supervisor almost immediately said 'He's in love and I'm going to have to train a new person.' Busted.

I visited Faye that August and Faye returned to Texas for American Thanksgiving. Who popped the question? Well let's just say I was a bit slow. We got married in January 2006 at the Benmiller Inn outside Goderich (where the photo was taken) and honeymooned in Niagara Falls Ontario. I moved to Canada in July 2007 and have been here since.

I would unhesitatingly do it all over again. It would never have happened had Woody not created this board. Thank you very much.
