    Anyone from Oregon?

I was reading about the mass hysteria that was created when they found out they had to pump their own gas and I was wondering if anybody could confirm the stories as true or just hyped.

Some of the quotes here are priceless. I have never known anybody to nearly die pumping their gas.

I was born there and graduated high school there as well. I can see that. I remember the full service treatment when I was a kid, complete with windshield cleaning and and oil check. It was definitely different.

No one I know or work with (and my office has 200 people) even brought this up and I've not personally pumped gas here since the law was taken into effect. Since Vancouver, WA is part of the Portland-metro area, many people go there at least to visit friends/family and lots of people in OR spend time up in WA in general, so it's not like we don't know how to do it. Of course, it is a big state I am sure there are people who don't leave their immediate area who are generally opposed to change. But, I do think it's just hype and people trying to be funny.

I have gone to WA a few times over the years and then sat in my car and grumbled about the lack of service until I remembered that you pump your own gas up there.

When I was a high performance motorcycle riding instructor we had 10-12 events at NJ Motorsports Park. The first time I went there I stopped to fill up my gas containers at a gas station close to the track. The guy would not let me fill them, because they weren't red. I got into an argument with him, but he told me they can only pump gas into red containers, diesel goes in yellow. Dumbest thing I ever heard.

We still have a few full service centres and I confess to using one once on purpose when I was all dressed up with some place to go and it was pouring out. I felt like a bad person doing that.

I noticed that many of the funny photos showed people in shorts and it's winter there so I figured it was a bit more fun than reality.

We have a couple of full service stations and I know people that still only use them because they don't want to pump.
    Thanks Everyone!!
