    Mushroom Caps!!

I literally watched this happen! How cool is that?! Little caps!

My husband is out of town but so completely grossed out. This is what we do on the phone at 3:45 am.

    Him: I can't sleep.
    Me: Look at my shrooms!
Him: I am so grossed out.
Me: That is the coolest thing ever!!!!

Pic of the day! I have to cull them soon. Probably tomorrow. All of the ones with little dark spots will go and the really little ones.

Cull; so you won't eat those? Not even the white part?

They say not to eat them until the edges flatten out so I'm going to do what I do when I cook something new - follow the recipe exactly.

The more I read, the more I realize that this cake alone will produce an insane amount of shrooms and the coffee/cardboard cake recipe in that link I posted makes it all super super easy to continue on My husband drinks organic coffee and I have chemical free cardboard for suppressing weeds that I bought in bulk.

I found out today that a huge tall tree stump on my property is an elm so I'm getting that cut down and should be able to grow just about any other edible mushroom. Lion's mane is supposed to taste like crab. Yum.

Pic of the day. I culled the ones with the brown spots. The other ones shot up and many of the smaller ones gotten "eaten" by the other ones.
