Sorry Barb, but I'm really not keen on R.C. Because if you say it quickly, well, try it. And that's what everyone who hears you calling him will think you named him.

I like Norm, for Mr. Hacking in my link above. Or what about Jaffa? Jaffa orange - Wikipedia I do know someone who named their orange cat Shamouti, another name for Jaffa.

I would imagine that the cat will out live Ram so "R.C". could end up being a painful reminder for years.

    Harry - because he's a red head
    Levi - because he's a good fit.

Oh, I like Levi. Then you could tell the story of WHY that suits him. In fact, I think I will start calling our Joe that. Kidding. Joe was much more basic. OH said what will we call him? And I said Joe as we did not know gender at that point and it could easily change to Josie.

Oh, noooooo........ Obviously, I didn't do that. Hah!

OK...then I revert to a "good ol' boy" name like Charlie, Fred, or George. Yeah, Harry is good, too.

LOL, our rescue ESS was named Whisper. I always felt a bit silly yelling for her, not that I very often had to.

I always heard if you want to get someones attention, whisper. I used to sit and whisper to my kids especially Bailey he would look at me so intently with his pretty eyes.

    How is it going?

I whisper commands to the dogs once in a while...I think the air noise being louder and more noticeable than with a spoken word really gets their attention. With Dan, I can actually just mouth words like "sit" and get a reaction....I'll do that outdoors sometimes just to get a reaction from people ("did he read your mind?")

What name did you settle on and how's he doing?

Rusty is a wild child with a ton of energy. Him and Boots chase each other up and down the stairs, stalk and play fight for a couple of hours when I get home from work and by 9 pm he's in bed. He's also a shredder of toilet paper and paper towel. He's very respectful of Snow and gives her a lot of space. He pays more attention to Ram when they're outside.
