    The shrooms taste great!

I ate two of them sauteed in a little oil with butter and a bit of salt finished with cider vinegar. Lovely. The curious thing is that the instructions say that each flush only yields 3-4 shrooms. It's not looking like that. I think I can get six out of this. This is what is left.

Two more tonight in a teriyaki sauce. Very nice but a little sweet. This is what's left. The one thing that is interesting to me at this point is that there's a thick stem (white) layer on the bottom. They don't have individual stems, per se. They share a common one then grow out of that.

Each Type of mushroom is different on how it grows. The ones you have, that's how they grow.

Here is a picture I found of a commercial farm of that type. The center thing where they all grow out of is the growing medium.

Where other types require other materials and grow differently. It all depends on the type of shroom and what you want to get out of it.

    Typical button caps.

Not sure but I think this is Panini mushrooms.

This is a Shitaki Mushroom farm

I never stopped to consider what a mushroom farm might look like. I'm sitting here with my jaw dropped....how cool.

    Thanks for posting!!!

I grew mushrooms (Portabella) many years ago. I bought a mushroom kit from a local grower and he said that I should get about 20-24 yield. It ended up at 54, both large enough to cook the cap in place of a hamburger and smaller ones to slice and use in sauces. They were great and grow so fast.

Yours look very yummy!!!!!! And they are very good for you.

Thanks Jeff. I'm doing a very small version of the bottom photo. Many of our trees are planted so close together that they get choked out so we're having one cut down this year and that with an elm stump will be our mushroom farm for chicken of the hen and hen of the woods. Other stump grindings will become cakes for lion's mane. Very happy making. It's a fabulous extension of our garden.
